Why Senator Kingibe Backs N1 Trillion Allocation to FCT by Wike

Senator Ireti Kingibe of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has denounced cyberattacks against her for support of Nyesom Wike’s 2025 budget.
FCT Minister Wike reportedly defended a ₦1.78 trillion planned budget for the capital city before the Senate and House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The fact that capital expenditures account for 70% of the budget was highlighted by Senator Kingibe, a member of the Labour Party.
The ₦1.78 trillion budget was criticized by her online fans as being excessive, and their responses to her support for it were divided.
The MP from the Labour Party underlined that her internet followers must concentrate on the greater good and set aside their political differences.
She emphasized the proposed budget’s focus on tackling important issues that FCT citizens face, such as housing, education, health, and infrastructure.
“In a widely circulated viral video, I was seen endorsing the budget that the Honourable Minister of the FCT presented,” it said. Although this has generated some discussion, I believe it is important to make my stance clear.
“As everyone is aware, I am a senator who always defends the truth. Doing what is morally right, not what is popular or politically expedient, has always been my compass.

The advancement and welfare of our people must occasionally take precedence over political disagreements. I’m supporting the FCT budget because I think it will help my constituents with some of their long-standing problems. If properly executed, a budget of at least 70% for capital projects and less than 30% for personnel and overheads is a good one.
Needs that are urgent cannot wait. Better living circumstances and assistance are needed for our IDP camp brothers and sisters; our young require chances and real empowerment; and our healthcare and educational systems require significant attention. Politicians are not using these as talking points. For many of our people, these are the realities they face on a daily basis.
I’m hoping that this budget will be a positive move. Our people in the FCT may experience some alleviation and an improvement in their quality of life if it is implemented correctly. My dedication to the people is unwavering, and I will keep calling for transparency and accountability at every turn.
Remember that governance is not about pursuing personal agendas. The focus is on service.
