Wike Congratulates Gov Okpebholo on Supreme Court Victory, Urges Focused Leadership

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has praised the Supreme Court’s ruling, which upholds Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo’s victory in the state’s September 2024 gubernatorial election.
Wike advised the governor to stay focused and to see the win as an additional call to serve Edo State’s citizens without expecting anything in return.
Lere Olayinka, the FCT Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, said in a statement on Thursday that the Supreme Court’s ruling was a final affirmation of the governor’s freely granted mandate by the Edo State people.

“The people of Edo State, who elected Governor Okpebholo, deserve this victory,” he declared. It is an appeal to be more dedicated to serving the public interest.
“I commend the governor and wish him continued success in improving Edo State and its citizens.”
The FCT Minister urged Asuerime Ighodalo, the candidate for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to work with Governor Okpebholo to develop Edo State, saying: “Now that a definitive answer has been given regarding who won the governorship election, it is incumbent upon all of the governor’s opponents to work together with him in the best interests of Edo State as a whole.
