3 Missing, 2 Dead in Bayelsa Boat Tragedy

Two individuals have sadly lost their lives, while 13 others are unaccounted for following a collision between two boats at the Akede village shoreline in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
According to reports, a passenger speedboat and a fishing vessel were involved in the incident, which happened on Tuesday night.
Divers are now in the ocean trying to find any of the missing people who might still be rescued, according to a source who talked to Daily Trust.
According to reports, a speedboat called Meeting Marine, driven by a man going by the name of Saturday and powered by a 115 HP engine, was traveling from Anyama Ijaw to the towns of Lubia and Foropa when it struck a fishing boat at the waterfront of Akede Community.
Thirteen passengers are still unaccounted for, according to Comrade Ogoniba Ipigansi, the Chairman of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria in Bayelsa State, who confirmed the occurrence.

Comrade Ipigansi added that the union was alerted about the tragedy, but rescue attempts were impeded by poor communication due to weak network connectivity in the area.
DSP Musa Muhammad, the Bayelsa State police spokesperson, stated that the event had not been formally reported when contacted for comment.
He promised reporters that he would look into it and keep them informed.
