Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd), the recently appointed Sole Administrator for Rivers State, arrived in Port Harcourt on Thursday to officially begin his new role.
Top state officials and security officers greeted him warmly when he arrived at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa at around 11:25 a.m. At the airport, a guard of honor was promptly raised in his honor.
“Port Harcourt is my city,” Ibas told the reporters, expressing his delight with the state’s current state of affairs. Everything seems to be at ease. He made it clear that he was determined to restore the city to its previous splendor.
Ibas went to the Government House in Port Harcourt with the Assistant Inspector General of Police for Zone 16 and State Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju.
Key officials gave him a tour of Government House before he went to the Executive Council Chamber to speak to service heads and Government House officials.
“I want to thank you all for what you have been doing so far,” Ibas said in a brief interview with the media, acknowledging the efforts of his predecessors.
