‘Frustrated Politicians’ – Presidency Slams Opposition Over Moves Against Tinubu

Opposition leaders’ efforts to unite against President Bola Tinubu in advance of the 2027 elections have been rejected by the administration, which referred to them as “frustrated politicians.”

The president will not be sidetracked by self-serving political connections, according to Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s senior assistant on communications and strategy.

Recall that on Thursday, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar declared that he and other opposition leaders will form a coalition to run against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the upcoming election. At a press conference called by political stakeholders in protest of Tinubu’s proclamation of a state of emergency in Rivers State, he gave a speech in Abuja.

APC national working committee member Salihu Lukman, former governor of Imo State Emeka Ihedioha, former governor of Kaduna State Nasir el-Rufai, and former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal were among those who attended the briefing.

Onanuga responded in a statement on Thursday, stressing the administration’s accomplishments as it approaches the midterms and reaffirming Tinubu’s commitment to national advancement.

“President Tinubu is concentrating on governance in order to create a prosperous nation.” He’s headed in the right direction. He has a lot of noteworthy accomplishments to highlight two months before his midterm. Unsolvable issues are being addressed head-on. The so-called coalition of politicians cannot divert him. They are not public-interest politicians. Their self-interest is the main focus. They’re not happy. They’re an irritated group. Sore losers are the leaders. The coalition is a collection of people who despise Tinubu. Stopping Tinubu is their goal,” he wrote on X.
