Supreme Court Judgment: Strong Basis to Suspend Wike, Remove Anyanwu – Ugochinyere

According to House of Representatives member Ikenga Ugochinyere, the Supreme Court’s ruling on Friday is a potent tool that the party can use to suspend Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and formally fire Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary.
In a statement released on Friday, he claimed that the ruling upheld the non-justiciability of internal party matters, making Anyanwu’s subsequent legal measures “baseless.”
He pointed out that the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) can now implement disciplinary actions, such as implementing the Tom Ikimi Report’s suggestions, which had previously resulted in Anyanwu’s suspension.
According to Ugochinyere’s statement, “the Supreme Court’s ruling on the PDP Secretary issue is a powerful weapon to help sack Anyanwu afresh, suspend [FCT Minister Nyesom] Wike, and rebuild the party.”

He emphasized that Anyanwu’s new ban would be final, even if it were challenged in court, because the majority of the 18-member NWC supported his removal.

He continued, “With this ruling, the NWC meeting will immediately take place. If it doesn’t, they should use their two-thirds to call it and immediately, with their majority, invoke the powers of the NWC to act on behalf of NEC/National Convention in situations of extreme emergencies like this.”

He added that the decision did not automatically reinstate Anyanwu and advised PDP members not to be concerned. Rather, he saw it as a calculated opportunity for the party’s leadership to “put an end to the chaos” and bring order back to the opposition party.

In addition to Anyanwu, Ugochinyere demanded disciplinary action against Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, whom he charged with years of “sabotage” against the party. He exhorted PDP leaders to maintain their resolve and resist outside pressure.

In order to put an end to the chaos that has turned the once-vibrant PDP and opposition into a helpless state, he said, “I applaud the NWC members who have refused to be bought or compromised with Abuja land to remain strong and immediately use their majority to suspend/expel Anyanwu and his father Wike.”
