Gunmen Kidnap Naval Officer Attached to DHQ, Two Others in Abuja

Nigerian Navy officer Lt. Cynthia Akor, who is assigned to the Defense Headquarters, and two other people have been kidnapped by gunmen in Abuja.
It is understood that on Friday night, the victims were abducted from their home in the Federal Capital Territory’s Mpape neighborhood.
On Saturday, a source verified the development, but asked to stay anonymous for security concerns.
The kidnappers had called the captives’ families and demanded a ransom of ₦100 million to free them, according to the source, who lives in the same region as the victims.

One of the three individuals abducted in the Mpape region on Friday night is Lt. Akor, a DHQ official. The source disclosed that the abductors have already contacted their relatives and are requesting a ransom of ₦100 million.
At the time this report was filed, attempts to contact Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defense Information, and Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, the Director of Defense Media Operations, had not been successful. At the time, they had not replied to messages.
Federal Capital Territory Police Command spokesman Josephine Adeh said she would confirm the event and provide more information when contacted.
“I will verify and respond to you as soon as possible,” she stated. There was, however, no additional information available at the time this report was filed.
