Tinubu’s Aide Blasts Peter Obi: ‘He’s a Failed Politician Who Doesn’t Understand Democracy’

Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has criticized Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, for his recent remarks regarding Nigeria’s democratic situation.
According to Bwala, Obi has never stood up for democracy and is merely engaging in flimsy rhetoric.
Peter Obi has never understood democracy and has always been interested in buying and selling, the presidential communications aide continued.

Recall that the former governor of Anambra State claimed that the current government had failed to bring democracy to Nigeria.

Obi remembered how former Senate President Ken Nnamani and former President Olusegun Obasanjo intervened to keep him from being impeached during his time as governor.
According to him, the court was mainly free from corruption under Obasanjo and previous President Musa Yaradua, in contrast to the current administration, when a president suspended a governor.

He made this claim on Monday in Abuja while participating in a panel discussion at Emeka Ihedioha’s 60th birthday democracy colloquium.

Hassan Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Archbishop of the Sokoto Archdiocese, disagreed with the previous presidential candidate of the Labour Party, stating that democracy has not failed but is still being worked on.

However, Bwala urged Obi against speaking against spreading hate speech in a direct response on Tuesday via a post on his 𝕏 account (previously Twitter).

He wrote: “I find it amusing that politicians who have failed are attempting to redefine democracy.

Democracy, according to @PeterObi, has fallen apart.

Is he even aware of what democracy is?

Gregory was buying and selling during the democratic struggle.

He has no prior record of democratic activism during his time in school.

Sticking up hate speech and hatred is his specialty.

“Speaking is cheap.”
