NYSC DG Confirms N77,000 Arrears Will Be Paid to Corps Members

The National Youth duty Corps (NYSC) Director General, Brig. Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, has announced that corps members who have just finished their duty will be compensated with the already agreed ₦77,000 stipend.
At the Batch A 2025 Pre-Mobilization Workshop for heads of corps-producing institutions and other stakeholders in Abuja on Thursday, Nafiu gave assurances that the payment process had already begun.
“The government will deal with the arrears within the financial allotment because it is aware of its commitment. We’ll pay them when the money is delivered to us,” Nafiu said.

Additionally, he promised that corps members who had previously fainted would not be denied the benefits.

“Even those who have served will reap the rewards. We have their bank account information, and we will credit them as soon as we get the required money. Nigerians need not be concerned; the government is accountable and attentive to their demands,” he continued.

Mohammed Abubakar, the Director of Corps Mobilization, said he was concerned about some universities enrolling ineligible graduates fraudulently.

“Even though we have made great strides in recent years, we still have significant problems that need to be addressed, especially the fraudulent uploading of unqualified graduates,” he said.

In keeping with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Ayodele Olawande, Minister of Youth Development, also underlined the necessity of reforming the NYSC.

Nigeria and the NYSC must change together. He stated, “We need to close the gaps and make sure the program gives graduates the necessary job market preparation.”
