Flying Eagles Land in Cairo for U-20 AFCON, Set to Face Egypt in Friendly

As they prepare for the eagerly awaited 2025 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have formally landed in Cairo, Egypt.
With 24 players and 9 officials, the Flying Eagles are led by head coach Aliyu Zubairu, who will guide the team as they attempt to win a record-tying eighth tournament championship.
When the Flying Eagles arrived, they made themselves at home in the Jewel Sports City and Aqua Resort, which is expected to give them the comforts and conveniences they need to face the difficulties that lie ahead.

Later tonight is the team’s first official training session, during which Zubairu will evaluate the players’ preparedness and adjust their game plans.
The event will be held in Egypt from April 27 to May 18, 2025, at a number of locations. Nigeria’s first game against Tunisia is set on Thursday, May 1, at Cairo’s Military Stadium.
The Nigerian Flying Eagles will also have to contend with fierce opponents in Kenya and Morocco in Group B of the Under-20 AFCON.
The Flying Eagles will also play a friendly encounter against the hosts, Egypt, on Tuesday, April 22, at Cairo International Stadium, as part of their preparations. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 PM local time (4 PM Nigerian time).
