Ortom Cancels 64th Birthday Celebration Over Benue Insecurity

Chief Samuel Ortom, the former governor of Benue State, has called off all of his 64th birthday festivities in honor of the victims of the tragedy, which has claimed many lives as the state continues to struggle with growing insecurity.
Ortom thanked Benue residents and other Nigerians for their prayers and outpouring of goodwill on his 64th birthday on Wednesday.
Terver Akase, his media assistant, said this on Wednesday.
“Due to the ongoing, increased invasion, attacks, and needless deaths of innocent Benue people by Fulani terrorists throughout various local government areas, I have decided not to have any celebrations or festivities.”
In light of the victims’ and their families’ extreme loss and suffering, Chief Ortom said he has made the decision to support them.

He also asked people to pray for Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking God to grant them the wisdom and strength to deal with the nation’s security challenges.
“I am grateful to God Almighty for his mercy, good health, and blessings over the past 64 years, and it reaffirms my commitment to serving God and humanity in the years to come.”
