Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms Commitment To Industrialisation, Economic Growth In Lagos

LAGOS – Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Lagos State governor, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to fostering industrialisation and economic growth through strategic investments in infrastructure, power supply, and policy reforms.

He made the commitment while speaking at the commissioning of O-Care Disposable Syringes, the First Medical Syringes Factory in Lagos State established by Transgreen Nigeria Limited located at Odofin Park Estate, Ijesha, Apapa-Oshodi, Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu, represented by Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, his deputy, said that his administration remained committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses like Transgreen Nigeria Limited and other industries to thrive.

He noted that the O-Care Disposable Syringes factory was more than just a manufacturing plant, but a symbol of innovation, resilience, and commitment to excellence, adding that by producing high-quality syringes locally, it reduces the country’s dependency on imports, creates jobs for the people, and ensures that essential medical supplies are always within reach.

“As we celebrate this achievement today, let us remember that this is just the beginning. This is particularly important as we continue to strengthen our healthcare infrastructure to meet global standards.

“Our administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for businesses like Transgreen Nigeria Limited to thrive.

Through strategic investments in infrastructure, power supply, and policy reforms, we will continue to support initiatives that drive industrialisation and economic growth,” said Sanwo-Olu.

Dr. Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the First Lady of Lagos State, earlier in her speech, said that the syringe factory was a significant boost to the state government’s THEMES+ Agenda, particularly in strengthening the healthcare sector and ensuring access to essential medical infrastructure for Lagos residents.

She stressed that in Lagos State, healthcare remained a cornerstone of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s developmental agenda for Greater Lagos, stressing that the governor had made significant strides in revitalising and repositioning the healthcare sector for efficient service delivery.

Cyprian Orakpo, the Managing Director of Transgreen Nigeria Limited, in his speech, said that the O-Care Disposable Syringes, a product that would not only help meet the healthcare needs, but would also contribute to reducing Nigeria’s dependence on foreign imports.

Orakpo stated that the Manufacturing Companies in Nigeria come with numerous hurdles, “such as access to capital remains a struggle, the cost of power is prohibitive, and the burden of multiple taxes from different government agencies complicates the landscape for businesses.
