Tanker Explosion Sparks Concern on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A tanker explosion along Lead City University Road at the Ibadan Toll Gate end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is said to have cost business owners and others millions of Naira.
According to information obtained, the explosion happened at 2:45 PM, leaving the owners of the impacted stores in a hopeless situation.
According to reports, computer equipment worth millions of dollars was found in one of the damaged stores.

The fire also burned a number of cars and motorcycles that were parked along the route.

It was still unclear at the time of this report if the incident had resulted in any casualties.

The truck driver and his helper, however, barely avoided major injuries, according to a source.
To control and contain the crisis, Oyo State Fire Service personnel were on hand, along with assistance from the Federal Fire Service.
“I just heard a bang from outside,” the proprietor of one of the impacted stores, who would not provide her name, told The Nation. I thought it was a gunshot at first.

“Thick smoke had engulfed the environment before I realized what was occurring.

“The Fire Services received the calls. But the act was completed before they got there. The fire has taken everything away from me. I’m not sure where to begin once more.

Rev. Akinyinka, the general manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, confirmed the occurrence and stated that his guys were present on the ground.

He claimed that the men from the State Fire Services had managed to stop the fire from spreading to neighboring stores.
