“‘This Is All Distraction’ – Doherty Criticizes DSS Invasion of Lagos House”

Funso Doherty, a former African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for governor of Lagos State, has denounced the Department of State Services (DSS) staff’s incursion into the Lagos State House of Assembly.
According to reports, DSS officers broke into the Lagos House on Monday, which some have characterized as an attempt to threaten Speaker Mojisola Meranda.
Doherty claimed in a Tuesday interview with News Central that the invasion was pointless and a diversion from the state’s governance.

The head of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suggested to former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa that he should let the legal system do its thing.
According to what we understand, the lawmakers have united and replaced Speaker Mudashiru Obasa with Mojisola Miranda. Obasa, the speaker, claims that the procedure was incorrect and that he has taken the matter to court. It’s okay. The House and the legal system will both carry on with their respective tasks, and everything will be resolved in the end.

The deployment of security personnel is a highly concerning development because it significantly deviates from the democratic process. We must make sure that is not a part of the process in order to condemn. Go back to a governance mechanism that operates regularly. Allow the current Speaker, Mojisola, to preside over the House while it is in session. “So be it,” he responded, “if the judges determine that things ought to be different.

The former candidate for governor urged the political elite in Lagos to concentrate on enhancing the quality of life for the people living in the state.

There are a lot of issues that lawmakers ought to be concerned about. We had to take an alternate route via Agege Motor Road since a container fell on the road I should have taken on my way here this morning. The condition of that road, which serves as a major route to the state capital, is just astounding. Therefore, these guys should be concentrating on a lot of things.

“All of this is a diversion. It’s not surprising that people become discouraged and disengaged from the political process when they finally take a step back and ask themselves, “Is my life better for all of this government activity, all of this expenditure of government, all of this hullabaloo in the public space, year in and year out, democratic process through democratic process, election cycle through election cycle?” And the voter turnout figures reflect that,” he said.
